This comic starts with [[Maya]] looking on her phone during midnight while she cautiously waits for her 16th birthday to start. Once the clock on her phone hits 00:00, she gets a single email from a bot, she then throws her phone and goes to bed. While she sleeps, she has a dream where she’s presented with a birthday cake in an empty, dark room. Before she blows out her candles, she begins to hear whispers from classmates tactlessly talking about her, the voices pile on until she begins to cry. This is likely her recollecting a previous birthday at school. When she wakes up, she gets a bucket and forces herself to vomit to convince her mother to let her skip school. In the morning, [[Coco]] and [[Mymy]] try to surprise Maya with a StroopWafel taart, but when they reach her door they’re stopped by Maya’s mom who tells them that she is sick and has no appetite. Shortly after, Coco peaks into Maya’s room and sees her eating gingerbread while playing on her computer. She looks at her disappointedly and leaves, Maya then breaks down crying.

The Zaryans have existed since at least July of 2018, when an english thread talking about Ongezellig was posted on 4chan's /co/ (comics and cartoons) board. On August 2021, Zaryans started migrating to the /qa/ board of 4cuck, which at the time was mostly dedicated to soyjaks. The deletion of /qa/ in November forced the Zaryans to establish a settlement on the Sharty's /qa/ board.

A second attempt at making a zellig site is '''zellig.site'''. The board had (at least) 3 boards: /raid/, /lig and /q/. During the opening, the board was raided with cp spammers. One or two weeks after the raid, the owner loaded rDrama.net's code into the website, effectively changing the site into a reddit board that required accounts to post and view the site. A few days after, one of the owner's der'cord conversations got leaked, and the site got shut down, never to be talked about again.

== /Zellig/ board (????-????) ==

When Doll was in control of the [[Soyjak.party|sharty]], the zellig subculture was repressed, with many threads being banished, and the Zaryans could only dream of a homeland.

After the Soypocalypse, the Zaryans migrated to other imageboards, with little to no success in establishing a community on those.

When soyjak.party was restored, [[Froot]], the new owner, established the 50 board plan, where 50 boards of all subjects (including zellig) were introduced. After the plan would end, 'jakkers would have to vote for which board will stay and which will be deleted. /zellig/ defeated /dawla/, /health/ and /psy/. The board was then locked, raided and ultimately deleted.

== The Zarty (September 27 2023-today) ==

The deletion of /zellig/, and the subsequent destruction of a pontential Zaryan homeland has prompted discussions about a zellig imageboard, independant from the sharty. On september 22 2023, a thread on /qa/ was held, where the discussion of creating a 'Zellig imageboard occured. In this thread, the domain soyzellig.party was found to be "very cheap" and Zoot decided to buy it and set up an image board with the knowledge he got from ImageBoard setup tutorials on YouTube. Before the site was made public, he used TinyIB-Wippy (a simplified fork of TinnyIB) as the script for the site, since he was too smart to install Vichan (eventho it takes 1 hour MAX). After three days of learning HTML and CSS and realising that TinnyIB-Wippy is too shit to act as a zaryan homeland, Zoot attempted to install Vichan. After 4 more days of somehow screwing the simplest of tasks and reinstalling the script 3 times, he managed to get the site up and running. Before the opening, on the 27th the site was "leaked" on the thread after Zoot posted and deleted it for some reason, where it was found to be a blank website with the rules written on it in orange letters. Currently it has around 200 members and with 2 other jannies who happen to be r_terra and the infamous hoxxitran who has, and i kid you not; around 150.000 Karma.
